Here we list design proposals for Open Source Ecology Germany.

Yin/Yang with Open Hardware and Ecology
Datei:OSEG Logo Design 1.jpg

Design Sketch by: Nikolay

Main Idea: represent the letters OSE and add Open Hardware to the picture. O is represented by the circle. S is represented by the S in the circle - Yin/Yang is formed. The points of the Yin/Yang parts are symbols themselves. On the right is the Open Hardware logo. On the left is a symbol for Ecology. This represents the balance between technology (hardware) and nature (ecology).

Next steps could be:
* Choose good symbol for ecology: search in google images for ideas.
* Add plenty a colors for another colorful version of the logo.
* The logo can be easily upgraded for certain events: add shine, sun, animate it, etc.

Logo with Colors
OSHW-Plant
Main idea:

* To bring two main elements together: Open Source Hardware and ecology/life/growth etc.
* The reversed OSHW gear in earthy-orange represents the ground/soil as the basis for ecology/life/growth etc.
* This draft also represents the "germform"-concept (Keimform).

These drafts are in a very early stage and should only illustrate my idea. I'm not a professional illustrator :)

* Es soll mit der S-Bahn/Bus/U-Bahn gut erreichbar sein, am besten im Norden von München
* Es sollte groß genug für eine große Werkstatt sein (100qm+ Halle wäre super)
* Wenn es dazu noch etwas gemeinsam nutzbare Grundfläche gäbe, die man vl. bewirtschaften kann oder wo Wohnwagen stehen können: Hervorragend!
* Ein Bach wäre super, Grundwasser/Brunnen wäre auch klasse
* Starkstromanschluss 400V (Drehstrom) + 230V abolutes muss
* Fließendes Wasser (kalt) ein muss
* Internetanschluß optional - wenn nicht vorhanden rüsten wir es danach.
* Sanitäranlagen vorhanden
* Optimal: Werkstattzulassung bereits vorhanden

OpenEcoLab Munich is the first decentral workshop of the Open Source Ecology Germany (OSEG) project, based in munich.
OpenEcoLab's are FabLab-alike, community-driven workshops. We're living the Open Source culture by adapting it in real life.
We're developing the concepts, systems, machines and social skills to prove a sustainable Open Source living and working in harmony with humanity and nature.
This has never been tried that consequently. Be a part of it: Visit us at OpenEcoLab Munich. You and your friends are very welcome to join our open community!
Be part of the OpenSource movement. Realize your great open-minded ideas: Do good and have a lot of fun!
**Writing - expert - I've written a book about a software development framework, published in 2011 by O'Reilly media
**Software Engineering/DEveloper - expert - I can develop almost any solution we need. Instead of 3D / real world simulation
**Project management - intermediate - I've managed business projects with > 1 Mio $ budget
**Open Source evangelist - advanced - I'm able to transmit the vision
**Product Design - advanced - Specially for software product design. But I can clearly see the use cases, DO's and DONT's.
Giving advice in software engineering, project management and engineering and bringing new inventions to life. Creating OSE Community in Germany

*Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?
I will always work for free. Let's spent the money on resources and tools.

*Are you interested in being part of one of the OSE communities in Europe? If so in which country?
Yep, Germany. Munich.

*Are you interested in a Dedicated Project Visit in OSE Communities in Europe? If so in which country?
Yep, Germany. Munich.

*Are you interested in building GVCS or other Open Source Hardware equipment in Europe? If so which ones?
Specially I want to design and build new machines and improve the communication platform of OSE and help all other projects in software engineering if needed.

*Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?
Maybe in the future if fulltime living on a FeF is reasonable (some years beyond today)

What I won't accept:

* Disharmony - I will leave any project immediately
* Politics in communication

**Electronics - beginner - I've built an Light to sound converter some time ago for fun. Currently implementing an high-tech TLUD oven control using Arduino / ATMega chipset
**Engineering - advanced
**CAD Design - beginner
**Humor - advanced, sarcastic, dark

*How have you already contributed to OSE, OSE Europe and Open Source Hardware?
**Organization help, ideas, connections, networking (connecting with people, promoting OSE)
**IT software setup (including this wiki, the forum, the pad etc. pp)

* Politics in communication
*Do you support open source culture?
Yes, actively. Take a look at GitHub searching for kyr0 or INCEPTIVE.

*Why are you interested in collaborating with us?
I want to - or just to try to improve our ecologic system. I understand it as a craft.
I've written the proposal paper: "THE MOVEMENT MANIFESTO".
This describes my attentions in full detail.

*What should happen so that you become more involved with OSE Europe?
Nothing, I just like to work for an open ecology. I won't stop. I can't get mote involved I guess :)

*What is missing in OSE Europe?
**Project management - intermediate - I've managed business projects with > 1 Mio $ budget
**Open Source evangelist - advanced - I'm able to transmit the vision
**Product Design - advanced - Specially for software product design. But I can clearly see the use cases, DO's and DONT's.
**Electronics - beginner - I've built an Light to sound converter some time ago for fun. Currently implementing an high-tech TLUD oven control using Arduino / ATMega chipset
Yep, Germany. Munich.

*Are you interested in building GVCS or other Open Source Hardware equipment in Europe? If so which ones?
Specially I want to design and build new machines and improve the communication platform of OSE and help all other projects in software engineering if needed.
Hmm, I really love OSE and it's idea. But am I a true fan? I am an Open Source Ecologist. For sure. But not bound to exactly this organization. Organizations are just names and numbers. I like the german community of the OSE, so I'm here today.

In General
Nearly all "disadvantages" of the evaluation belong to the fact whats currently configured in the Boonex installation.
The evaluation doesn't cover whats possible in Boonex, it only covers what was configured by me in a small amount of time.
Most of the "disadvantages" are configurable features and could be simply en/disabled by some clicks.

The Wordpress system named in the Comments section is a blog system. This is a completely different type of software system
than Boonex. Boonex is a system for social interaction of many people to communicate and interact.

Wordpress is a software system to provide a single blog / website for a web presentation to inform people about whats going on.

collab.opensourceecology.de has the goal to provide better collaboration (Boonex system for _intern_ collaboration)
blog.opensourceecology.de (linked to www.opensourceecology.de when it's ready) has to goal to represent OSE Germany to the outside. (Wordpress system)

Forum
The Boonex forum software can be replaced by phpBB 3 - which is the standard and most commonly used open source php forum software.
php BB is more freature-rich but woudn't integrate so smooth with Boonex. I don't think that we need that much RSS features for the first time.
Replacing the default forum software of Boonex by php BB 3 is common in Boonex installations anyway.

Boonex disadvantages in detail
no Preview button.
-> preview button can be found in the editor as an icon (2nd toolbar, right hand side)

Cannot embed youtube videos:
-> Youtube videos can be embedded by a simple link. For my understanding this is not needed for a project blog where the content mainly
comes from the project members, not from youtube.

iframe code is filtered out
-> this is a security feature but you can use the HTML mode, can be found in the editor too.

no image file upload
-> You can attach files by uploading them (below the text input field, above the submit button)

Blog
All disadvantages named here are config options in the admin interface. Obsolete.

Videos
Youtube streaming is configurable / can be activated by plugin.

Poll
Re-voting can be disabled by a config option / replacing the poll module by an other plugin.

Chat
Can be easily replaced by an other chat module which has an history.

Conclusion
I think we shouldn't focus on software details - which is for my understanding - not productive.
In addition I wouldn't suggest to evaluate a highly configurable social network system from a user point of view.
(Who isn't able to know all the config options available in the software) All disadvantages named here are obsolete at all because it's customizable
in a small amount of time.

A better and more positive approach would be to create a wish list - for my understanding.

My vision is that we have one system for collaboration, where every project / member has a personal blog and the people are interconnected and
can communicate in real time and that we have _an additional_ system where we represent our organization to the outside (the official blog).

A collab system gives us huge advantages a single blog system would never be able to provide.
Sadly I doesn't had more time to present the advantages/features of Boonex. So the idea of having a collab system could be misunderstood.

In my toughts collab is our project hub / mission log tool. All OSE members can use this tool to organize their work, discuss, vote and collaborate.
It a tool for intern use. For better project and member interaction.

The blog system should be our official website. Members of OSE can publish official posts there. E.g. a summary of activities happend in the last
week and documented on collab in the serveral blogs of the serveral members. For this approach Wordpress is the best software.

For building a social network, Wordpress doesn't provide the needed features.
Aronhttps://wiki.opensourceecology.de/index.php?title=Diskussion:Boonex&diff=414Diskussion:Boonex2012-05-27T22:56:31Z
Aron: /* Conclusion */

The Boonex forum software can be replaced by phpBB 3 - which is the standard and most commonly used open source php forum software.
php BB is more freature-rich but woudn't integrate so smooth with Boonex. I don't think that we need that much RSS features for the first time.
Replacing the default forum software of Boonex by php BB 3 is common in Boonex installations anyway.
All disadvantages named here are config options in the admin interface. Obsolete.

Sadly I doesn't has more time to present the advantages Boonex can deliver to OSE.
