Die mit Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts zunehmend in Erscheinung tretenden Prozesse der Open Source Produktentwicklung (OSPE) sind Teil einer industriellen Dezentralisierung. Die Globalisierung und die Vernetzung über das Internet ermöglichen neue interaktive Wertschöpfungsprozesse, welche zugleich auch einen übergeordneten Wandel der klassischen Produktentwicklung herbeiführen. Dies stellt die ingenieurtechnischen Prozesse und die zu leistende Technische Dokumentation, welche auch Grundvoraussetzung für eine dezentrale Produktentwicklung ist, vor neue Herausforderungen. Die Frage nach den Anforderungen an die zu teilenden Inhalte und Dokumente ist aktuell nicht geklärt. Die vorliegende Arbeit soll einen Einblick in die gängige Praxis der Technischen Dokumentation bei OSPE-Projekten geben und untersuchen, inwiefern sich diese von der herkömmlichen Dokumentation der Produktentwicklung nach VDI-Richtlinie 4500 unterscheidet.

Globalization and networking via the Internet enable new interactive value creation processes, which at the same time bring about an overarching change in traditional product development. This poses new challenges for the engineering processes and the technical documentation to be provided, which is also a prerequisite for decentralized product design. The question of the requirements for the content and documents to be shared is currently unclear. The objective of this research is to give an insight into the current practice of technical documentation in OSPD projects and to examine how it differs from the conventional documentation of product development according to the VDI Guideline 4500.
